Two Super-Earths found orbiting planets in our vicinity, relatively speaking.
These rocky planets are larger than the Earth but much smaller than ice giants such as Uranus and Neptune.
Scientists say the discoveries are a step towards finding potentially habitable planets - smaller planets that are comparable to the Earth.
"The discovery of potentially habitable nearby worlds may be just a few years away."

This is quite exciting news I think. If they are close by, it would be possible to analyse their atmospheres and look for life signs.
Maybe they are inhabited and they've been analyzing us for a while. :sqeek: :sqlaugh:

You know, I wouldn't be surprised! Us humans think and assume we are the bee's knees in intelligent life and maybe that is so on this planet, but out there in space our sun is but one in 100s of billions of other stars. And that's just in this galaxy.

Isn't that kind of what Sagan tried to say without getting carried away? It's a shame some people mistook that and thought he believed aliens have been visiting our planet.

Indeed I think that is exactly what he was saying, but perhaps with a little more style and a 13 hours TV series.
If there ain't life out there somewhere I'll chomp my ring toe clean off and swallow it whole!
Is this to mean that you've only one ring toe, Atom?
Yes this is exciting, I'll be dead in twenty years but still..
lol
I'm happy for ya, human race. Very happy indeed.
I was thinking this morning whilst having coffee, boy, humans are kinda weird, and rocks are boring. I will however not, I say not discount the possibility of the truth lying in the transpose.
