Funny that, reading that article my attention caught this here;
“We find compelling evidence that language is a phenomenon of evolutionary biology and within the reach of biological investigation,” write biologist Daniel Margoliash and psychologist Howard Nusbaum in “Language: The Perspective from Organismal Biology,” an opinion piece in the current issue of the journal Trends in Cognitive Sciences.
That's not really new, language has been the subject of research since decades and has been categorised as a phenomenon of evolutionary biology since as many decades.
Anyway, the research goes on; Birds Provide Clues in How Humans Learn Speech (http://www.newswise.com/articles/view/559882/)
