All banned somewhere in the world and yet I have seen most of them and not been unduly influenced. How about you?

What is the point of banning films these days?

Probably some religious fanatic(s) behind it most of the time. Just guessing.

That would be my guess as well. I've seen a few of them and can't see what the big hubbub is about.
And what about Mel Gibson's flick? Passion of the Christ? It's not banned anywhere? :sqerr:

You have a point there. And the violence in it was quite extreme IMHO.

Funny that, the UK just banned another movie;

UK film board stops sale of Japanese horror movie - Yahoo! News (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090819/ap_en_ot/eu_britain_horror_film)

LONDON – Britain's film board banned the sale of a Japanese horror DVD, saying Wednesday its violence is so extreme that it could cause psychological harm to audiences

Nice of them to decide for adult people what they can see or not, all for the safety of the delicate British people, of course.

As for me, there could be no better advertising for a movie, when the zealots get upset about it, it must be good, they get upset about all the good things in life.

Well A Clockwork Orange was banned for almost 30 years in the UK because the authorities thought it would incite violence.

There is a small cinema near the Haarlemmerplein in Amsterdam that played it for 30 years, I guess they had a lot of British tourists coming to see that movie.

The irony of having to go abroad to watch a British film about Britland, has not escaped me! :sqlaugh:

Still, we got it sorted out in the end. Now for that Japanese film ...

What would religion be without some hypocrisy thrown in?

I believe some movies are just waiting to be banned because it gives them some extra publicity.

If I ever make a movie, I hope it will get banned. It probably would anyway...nobody understands the stupid french accent.

I would watch it. And then you could ban me for watching it.

I just saw an interview on Charlie Rose with Quentin Tarantino, I'm not sure who's nuttier between the two.

I've seen quite a few from Quentin Tarantino, my favorites from him are the Kill Bill movies and Dusk till dawn.
