View Full Version : Gay Marriage, what's the big deal

This amused me and made me think:

12 reasons why gay marriage should be illegal.

Homosexuality is not natural, much like eyeglasses, polyester, and birth control.

Heterosexual marriages are valid because they produce children. Infertile couples and old people canít legally get married because the world needs more children.

Obviously, gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.

Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage is allowed, since Britney Spearsí 55-hour just-for-fun marriage was meaningful.

Heterosexual marriage has been around a long time and hasnít changed at all; women are property, blacks canít marry whites, and divorce is illegal.

Gay marriage should be decided by people, not the courts, because the majority-elected legislatures, not courts, have historically protected the rights of the minorities.

Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. Thatís why we have only one religion in America.

Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.

Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.

Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. Thatís why single parents are forbidden to raise children.

Gay marriage will change the foundation of society. Heterosexual marriage has been around for a long time, and we could never adapt to new social norms because we havenít adapted to things like cars or longer life-spans.

Civil unions, providing most of the same benefits as marriage with a different name are better, because a ďseparate but equalĒ institution is always constitutional. Separate schools for African-Americans worked just as well as separate marriages for gays and lesbians will.

When same-sex marriage was legalized here in Massachusetts in 2004, watching the debate is when I decided that I was a godless liberal... and proud of it! :P

So as long you're doing the humping it's ok if the humpee is male?

In truth I don't see why anyone would want to get married these days, homosexual or heterosexual. I suspect we are rapidly moving beyond marriage. But if people of whatever sex want to marry each other, I don't see an objection, as long as it means something to them and is based on love and mutual respect. If two people care enough about each other and want to formalise that relationship and tell the world, well good for them, congratulations, I wish you all my best.

That depends on how drunk I was, and how attractive he appeared at the time... :3unsure:

Maybe for the legal benefits that governments only provide to married couples. Tax breaks, inheritance issues, health insurance dependents, etc.

Reason 13 why gay marriage should be illegal.

Because the Earth is a flat square placed on the back of an elephant,
heterosexuals fear that Gays marriages will push them of the edge.
In other words, heterosexuals won't have any other choice but to jump
in the land of oblivious heads down.
