A French television experiment where unwitting contestants were encouraged to torture an actor has drawn comparisons with the atrocities of Nazi Germany.

Wow!
We really need a wakeup call to get our priorities straight.
I'm shocked that only 16 of 80 people put the life of the contestant ahead of "the show must go on".
Normally I'd say it's a shocking (:3rolleyes:) thing being the mild-mannered soul I am, but there are a couple of presenters i'd happily press that button for.

Unfortunately it is human nature to fit in and do what the group or authority says. There have been many experiments of this nature that demonstrates that the minority is where the brave reside. So it is actually in the majorities interests to nurture the minority.
Series 2, episode 4 of Life, "Not for nothing", has a similar theme:
When a university's social psychology experiment using students in the roles of inmates and prison guards (based loosely on the Stanford prison experimen (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanford_prison_experiment)t) goes seriously wrong, Crews and Reese are called on to find out who murdered one of the guards.
Davina McCall would get my volt vote.
