It is all about what kind of fat apparently, brown fat, that's what you need.

While obesity levels have grown year on year, so have levels of physical activity. More people in Britain do the recommended amount of exercise – at least 30 minutes of moderate-intensity activity at least five times a week – than did 12 years ago. Use of personal trainers and gyms has soared: over the past five years, the amount spent on the latter has grown by 50 per cent, to more than £1.25 billion. Is it possible that all that exercise is doing nothing to make us slimmer?

Exercise is, of course, essential for good health, improving our heart and lung function while triggering the release of a host of hormones that bring on feelings of wellbeing. But some surprising studies in America are starting to reveal that even under gruelling training regimes, people fail to lose as much weight as they should.

The results were surprising. While all of the women lost weight, including the control group (which is thought to be a consequence of basing the study on overweight women who wanted to lose weight), those who exercised the most did not lose significantly more weight than those who were told not to change their diet.

With a drink in one hand and a packet of crisps in the other it doesn't sound so bad on the whole :sqlaugh:

on the whole you are digging yourself in?

I believe it's all about balance. I play a lot of sports, but also do the couch potato thing....you just have to find a good equilibrium.

As long as those crisps have been adequately dipped in chocolate and are served with a large milkshake, I'm OK with that. :sqlaugh:

Equilibrium! I don't keep falling over you know. Well actually I do, but that is because of my dodgy hip.

I agree, it is about balance. Eat the right food, get good exercise and rest. Oh and read a good book. TV rots your brain. Hence the state you find me in :sqwink:

If you stop eating the weight comes off fast.

I think we can all agree on that.

I have the same thing. Had a THR on one side. Will someday have the other side done too. THR was great! Put me back on the tennis court, sailing, horseback riding, etc.!

Mine's not so bad. Worst that happen is I get a shooting pain down one leg and it feels like it will give way. After a few seconds/minutes I'm back to normal. Although it does seem to be getting worse.

The specialist over hear said he doubts I would get a replacement at such a young age.

Doubts you would need one? Or be able to get one?

Strong

Be able to get one on the good old NHS. They also don't do them too young because they wear out and then they have to operate again.

I'm waiting for the day I start to fall apart. Maybe by then we'll all be cyborgs anyway. Then we won't eat anything moist.

Oil change? A euphemism? I think more often than every 10,000 miles is called for...

Strong

You've got a dirty mind, you probably need an oil change!
