We've installed a new plugin for BTWIMHO.
It's called Tapatalk.

Basically, it's a mobile version of the forums that you can get access to on your cell phone(s).
Tapatalk already works with the iPhone / Android / Nokia phones and the Blackberry app is already in beta testing.

This will open us up to a new audience that might not have caught us before and will allow all of us to use these apps on our phone to access BTW.


Thanks to BD for the suggestion. It took me a while to get around to it, but it's installed and working now.

While my Blackberry is decidedly much easier to type on than my Razr was, I'm just enough of an old fuddy to still find it a challenge.

Does it work on Windows mobile professional? (yeah, I know, I'm one of those lamers who don't want to be tied to apple-stores)

The Blackberry app is in beta right now and I read somewhere that they were waiting for Windows Mobile 7 before developing an app for that platform but I can't seem to find that info now.

It works out extra well for me personally as it was a pain in the ass to check the forums via Safari on my iPhone.
It's much easier to post from this app than it is from Safari.

We also have a spot in their directory because of this plugin. So, potential new members may find us in their directory when checking out the app and decide to join when they see what a great bunch we have here.

I try not to use Safari on the iPhone to browse vb forums because it is a pain but with this new plugin and the accompanying app, it's a lot easier to browse and post.

Just installed and tested another plugin called "Forum Runner", which basically does the same thing with a different directory and a different group of people.
It's currently only available for the iPhone.

Frankly, although I have a contract with unlimited internet access for my phone, and a super-duper phone that comes with it, I hardly ever even switch my phone on and near to never use it to access the internet. I have a mobile phone just because I can, but I'm not fond of mobile phones at all, for me they are a disturbance and I fail to see why I should be reachable every second of the day at any place I am.

I think my phone is switched on for an average of not more than 20 hours a year.

I need to have one for the line of work I'm in.
When you're in charge of people's servers, they want to be able to get ahold of you. :)
I also like the convenience of being able to get internet access (including my main email) anywhere I happen to be.

I think that's a little too much information Ed. Thank the FSM that this isn't a totally immersive interface with glorious 3D technicolour and surround sound. There would be some posts that would be positively embarrassing.

FYI for those who are using Tap A Talk, they pushed an update through iTunes today. What I really like about TapATalk is the developers are constantly pushing updates and improving the program. For the 2 and a half months I've had I've gotten no less then 5 updates.

And as an example of the difference this software makes, I've attached 2 screen captures from my iPhone. The first is BTW as viewed with Safari browser on the iPhone and the second is using Tapatalk on the iPhone to view BTW.
