Lizzie Miller, the 20-year-old model in question, agrees that it's astonishing that, at 5ft 11in and 12.5 stone she's considered a "plus size" model. "It's sad," she says. "In the industry anything over size six is considered a plus-size." Miller, who is around a US size 12-14 (that is, either average or slightly below average) lost about 60lb when she was 13 but today she is considered too large to model for plus-size lines Marina Rinaldi (she says, "they like girls who are an 8-10") or Elena Miro. She says that the overwhelming reaction to the tiny photograph, buried on page 194 of Glamour magazine "shows that the world is hungry to see pictures of normal women."

Article: Guardian - Too fat to be a model? (http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2009/sep/02/lizzie-miller-model-fat)

Take a look at the picture in the article for yourself. What do you think, is she too fat?

BTWIMHO, hell no!

To add to the discussion. State your size preference, Anna, Tillie, Caroline?

Both men and women themselves put on the pressure to be a stick figure. I've known men who watch pornography in front of their girlfriends and say "why don't you look like that?" Truth is very few women (one article said 1% or less) are born with the ideal "model" frame and many starve or carve themselves to attain it. Very sad.

And do I think she's fat? No way.

Women's ideal size 8? Hmmm... I thought 5-6-9 were the ideal, but maybe only for teenagers... voluptuous is the way...

What does a 320 pound woman look like?
Now, before you look at her pictures, get a mental image of what you think a woman who weighs 320 looks like...

Not exactly what you were expecting is it??

The tallest and best proportioned woman in the world lives in Holland.

She is 7'4" and weighs 320

What a relief! Now we ALL know we aren't overweight; we're just too short! I knew it!;-)

I totally agree, voluptuous is the way to go, health wise and snuggle wise. The idea of groping a bag of bones seems too painful to contemplate. I like curves.

Men and women need to appreciate their bodies more. We seem to have got it into our heads that thin and tall is the ideal. But if you look at art through the ages, that was not always the case. Even in the first half of the 20th Century, think about, say Marilyn Monroe, she had curves.

Bring back the voluptuous curves!

Are you talking about the model or the author?

The model is not too fat but she has little tummy roll going on there. No big deal, she just needs better posture.

That's a tough call. I can't tell who's bigger, Caroline or Anna. Plus even though Caroline might be bigger she seems to have better proportions.

Yeah, I was having trouble choosing too. I think all three are beautiful. It takes a world full of people, to make the world go round.

In the end very few of us choose by body alone. Those that do are condemned to pay alimony or lose visitation rights... dating/marrying for body/sex alone will lead to a precipice... and eventually the rock floor below... yowch...

That's true, the hairdo counts too.

And of course the shins... you can't ignore the shins...

Muddy

Or the ear lobes. Those just might be the most important.

Muddy

Yes the left one. Especially if it's the only one left.

Indeed, sir. If the right one is the only one left, it isn't as special...

Just going by body types, here.
I find them all attractive for different reasons.

ewomack
04-09-2009, 02:16 PM
They all are attractive! There is absolutely nothing wrong with any of them whatsoever. On;y by comparing them to some ridiculous ideal do they in any way become unattractive, but that isn't exactly recommended... I once had a friend who was an ok looking guy, but he only lusted after women who looked like Playboy models. Of course he never had a date since he shunned every realistic prospect that ever meandered near him.
