Yeah some times the count gets messed up - happens all the time on my board. To fix that do Quick Links > Mark Forums As Read. Or click this link: BTWIMHO Chat Forums - Powered by vBulletin (http://btwimho.com/forumdisplay.php?do=markread)

What I meant by I'd rather be kept in the dark than lied to is I'd rather see the Unread Posts feature removed if possible. If I remember correctly that's what JS had done @ v7 and it worked out nicely as there was then no incorrect info displayed and members could just use the New Posts link to keep abreast. I just hope I'm remembering correctly, my memory is not like it was 5 minutes ago, it's failing fast. lol

I've been monitoring the counts all day and they look pretty accurate to me.

Well, Dan said sometimes so I guess you just have to wait for it to act up, it's like it gets stuck when it should be refreshing I guess, I don't know.
He's right though because mine is ok now.
Basically what it does I guess is not register a deduction as the posts are viewed.
It's nothing I can't live with, I just felt like complaining, Zap. I scraped the bottom of the wine jug last night and managed to get out two cups of lees.. tasted terrible but did the trick. lol

And, for what it's worth, Dan figured out what is happening. It counts ALL new posts (including ones that members can't view) so, technically, you're not being lied to, just taunted.

Stupid me. I've now come to the conclusion that the Unread Posts count is actually the only accurate info. The Top 10 Stats and New Posts links combine posts in the same thread and primarily indicate thread activity, Unread Post/s indicates pure post activity.

I never had a chance to figure this Unread Post/s thing out at v7 because it was removed shortly after the switch to VB as I recall.
I shouldn't really say v7 though, because v7 was actually called Internet Marketing Forum at the time of the switch.

actually, I recall letting people know that from the beginning. If I had access to that private message board, I could prove it but I have also been lying on a weird angle and can barely feel my arms anymore. It's becoming painful to type but oddly enough, the position is still comfortable so I'm not tempting to move as of yet.
