I was reading Arob's welcome tread and found him say this;

sigh ... I cant wait until I can post photos and videos here.
Maybe I'll go share more tips until I have 25 posts? you like the niocotine stains one? it works sometimes. depending how hardcore you smoke

Which made me think, could we kind of experiment and lower the minimum required posts in order to add links to 10?

It would still be a fence for spammers but not-so-frequent-posting members would be able to post links to interesting content on the interwebs sooner than they can do now.

Good idea? Bad idea?

If I remember correctly, 10 was a low hurdle that spammers loved because they found it easy to over come. But I see it can be irritating to genuine members.

Zap! Damnit Zap, ain't you finished that basement yet!?! :sqwink:

Can admin adjust on an individual basis?

Yes, maybe lower it for new referred members but keep it the same for wanderers in?

I see your point, guys and I'll lower it and we'll see how it goes.
Maybe the spammers will give up before 10.

I think I scared him away.

I must not do that again.
I must not do that again.
I must not do that again.
I must not do that again.
I must not do that again.
I must not do that again.
I must not do that again.
I must not do that again.
I must not do that again.
I must not do that again.

*Checks breath and armpits. Many are called but few are chosen. As to what that proverb originally refers is beyond the outskirts of my knowledge.

I noticed that a while ago.

10 posts doesn't curb spammers on a busier forum, I know from modding, but I would guess it'd work here.

Alright 16 but that is really it this time.

Yes, what is it with the newbies coming and suddenly going? Does the lack of a theme (such as web marketing) make for fewer people? Does a really minuscule portion of the public forum for fun? Basically, are we it? Hm.

It takes time really. I think this forum is at the point where it's just emerging from the sea to inhabit the land.

What if each registered member could create their own 'instant forum sounds' file filled with farts and whistles etc.. needing only the click of an icon to initiate. I suspect we eventually would all just get used to leaving our volumes low lol. Would that be weird though or what? lol
