I'd sure like to know how all this stuff is figured out. I feel like such a dummy when I try to understand this stuff because I don't know how this information was arrived at.

Via several routes Atom. A few of them being (bio)chemical analysis, electro microscopic research and all sorts of other scans and of course surgery, a lot of research conducted at different locations at different times and in different scientific disciplines all fits together to give us this knowledge at this time, but new research is being conducted all the time and results of that research is added to the stuff we do know, we still keep getting to know more and more about those processes and how they come into existence.

Great isn't it.

Yes, I do find it fascinating, I just wish that I understood it better, though I'm not sure I'd be smart enough to even if I had the opportunity.

It is not a matter of you being smart enough Atom, I know you long enough to know you are. The matter is not enough people smart enough to translate the science into more digestible language.

The problem with science is that indeed often it is very complicated to understand and the problem is more how to explain it in such a way that it becomes better digestible to the brain.

I think there's a shortage of science journalists who have the ability to translate the science into layman's language. Scientists themselves are way too occupied with the actual research and are not trained to translate their academic language, it is not their job either, what our society needs is more people who translate the science to the people, luckily our modern technology and the demand in the market already brought us things like history channel and discovery channel has the science channel now, but there's a lot more that should be done to get science mainstream and as a result also better understandable.

It's funny, I can understand a TV schematic but not this. Well I'll just keep trying I guess. lol
