There's a Darwinian logic that precludes making a huge effort to stop someone from succeeding in suicide-by-milkshake.

Reminds me of the joke where a guy gets bit by a rare and deadly snake. A friend calls for help on his cellphone. A doctor tells him this is normally not suggested, but in this case he MUST make an incision and suck out the poison, being careful not to swallow any as it is deadly. The doctor explained that if he didn't do this immediately... the man *would* die.

He tells the doctor he understands, then hangs up and looks down at his friend, who looks up hopefully... "What'd the doctor say?"

"Doctor said you're gonna die."
