Amazing. The Mayans have always fascinated me...once again I'm blown away by the knowledge of these people.
Thanks for posting. =)
I'm interested to hear their creation story.
The topic title is deceiving as it apparently is not known whether it's the largest or not yet.

They kept repeating the rather specific phrase, "... in terms of volume ...". I'm not entirely sure what that means.
Maybe the base is larger than any other, or the height, or maybe some of it is underground, or maybe Walt Disney molested ducks, I just don't know!

Mayans still rule the ancient world.

I noticed that the reporter was careful to say "what may be the largest...", twice. I'm not sure if that means that there may be a larger one among the purported thousands to be unearthed or if all the size factors about this one are simply not known yet.

That might just journalistic jargon for, "I haven't checked my facts and have no intention of doing so, that's why I'm phrasing it in this way so no smart arse young punk can get up my arse about it".

Give us the real potatoes here, non of that instant crap.

You're mixing up your metaphors. What the hell kind of soup are you putting together here Atom?
Coffee and potatoes.
I reckon it is just sloppy journalism. Maybe she doesn't have the real dimensions so to spice up the piece she guesstimated and made it sound vague enough to be real.

Don't you have instant mashed potatoes over there in the UK?

Not with our coffee!
If Ferre is right, that must mean they pre-date the Romans in their road building.

Yep, and the Chinese pre-dated the Mayans in their road building. :sqwink:

Atom was asking about road building the other day, so this is quite interesting Ferre.
I wouldn't be surprised if the Indians were doing it before the Chinese to be honest, but I have no knowledge to back that up with.
Not with our coffee!
If Ferre is right, that must mean they pre-date the Romans in their road building.I didn't mention coffee. I need to stop glancing at your avatar. Peripherally, I see the wizard of oz lion in Sami's current one. Yes pre-date indeed, but did they have chariots, that's what I want to know.

Most ancient people did have roads, but those were dirt roads, not paved. I think the Chinese were the first to pave roads. In India even today there's relatively little paved roads.

Oh, sorry. I thought you meant mixing the two.
Yes we have instant potatoes, just mix with water type stuff. We are quite progressive in Europe. We also have instant coffee.
We also have roads, given to us by the Romans. But my favourite is instant custard powder. Bet you guys have got that.

The ancient Mayans were apparently quite ruthless in their beliefs, kind of reminds me of the Inquisition.

Custard is for desserts, but there are many pizza places that might fill your order I suspect

Happen to be in the market for T-shirts right now, but probably not cost effective to get them from there...
I think it's a side thing as I believe he is in the restaurant biz. His T-shirt site is pretty funny, I forget the name of it.
Happen to be in the market for T-shirts right now, but probably not cost effective to get them from there...Yeah I hear ya, I've even heard him exclaim similar himself.

With real potato pieces that ripple with vitamin C.
