A giant shark that could be up to 20ft long has sent shockwaves across Australian beaches after a great white was nearly bitten in half.

Great whites get to be much bigger than that, I'm sure, this must have been a smallish one.

Killer whales are known to attack Great Whites and drive them away from an area. Some have learned to strike them a blow into the side and then turn them over onto their backs. This sends them into a strange sleep mode, after a few minutes they drown because they cannot breath in this state. The Orca then consumes the shark.

It has been well documented in a number of areas around the world. An attacked Great white releases a chemical into the sea, this chemical causes others to flee the area. Sometimes travelling upto 2000 miles away as a result.

As far as I know the Killer Whale is the only predator smart enough and big enough to prey on Great Whites.
