Article: Guardian - Global temperatures could rise 6C by end of century, say scientists (http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2009/nov/17/global-temperature-rise)

Most comprehensive CO2 study to date is expected to give greater urgency to diplomatic manoeuvring before Copenhagen

Scientists said that CO2 emissions have risen by 29% in the past decade alone and called for urgent action by leaders at the UN climate talks in Copenhagen to agree drastic emissions cuts in order to avoid dangerous climate change.

"This is very different to the trend we need to be on to limit global climate change to 2C [the level required to avoid dangerous climate change]." That would require CO2 emissions from all sources to peak between 2015 and 2020 and that the global per capita emissions be decreased to 1 tonne of CO2 by 2050. Currently the average US citizen emits 19.9 tonnes per year and UK citizens emit 9.3 tonnes.

So each US citizen emits 10 tonnes more CO2 per year than a Brit! That seems quite a lot.

I think those stats include their military endeavours. :sqwink:

You raise an interesting point. I, for one, don't know how they work out these figures for each citizen.

I think they calculate the total amount a country is polluting and devide that with the amount of citizens.

I read somewhere in the past how much oil the us military uses every day for their machinery, that was pretty expressive.

I tried to access it from work, and the firewall blocked it, citing the cause as racism and hate.
Not sure I want to see it. :sqconfused:

it's the official kkk site. It's more political than religious but it's a pretty awesome site.

IT also said than earth is under the judgment of god right now so I guess religion stuck its nose up there too.

He claims to be a Christian pastor...may even have a theological background. However, it sounds more like he's mentally incapacitated, and should be stripped of the title immediately.

Everything;

Why the Klan? (http://www.kkk.bz/why2.html)

Sometimes a person who says that he or she believes in our principles will ask why we don't change the name of our movement.

Here are a few reasons why:

It is a matter of principle.

We believe in the Ku Klux Klan. We believe that the founders of the Ku Klux Klan were led by divine providence and that once again just like the Klan saved the white race during "Black Reconstruction" it will arise like the great phoenix - The Knights Party - to bring our people once again back from the brink of destruction. Our people led by the hand of God will once more rule our great land. A time of prosperity and racial healing - a great White Christian revival!

It is an organizational asset.

The Klan name and symbols insure the quality and dedication of our associates. Our uncompromising name and principles weed out cowards and hypocrites, and elicit a high level of dedication and activity on the part of Klansmen and Klanswomen nationwide.

It is a tactical asset.

The controversial nature of the KKK attracts tremendous interest. No one can respond to a cause if he or she has never heard about it. Those who may be inclined to suggest that we change our name, should note that, directly or indirectly, they probably wouldn't be reading these lines right now if not for our Klan association.

Furthermore, as America becomes increasingly polarized and white people begin feeling the full force of non-white hatred, they won't care about the alleged "violent" past of the Ku Klux Klan. The one thing they know for sure is that the Klan stands for white people. When they begin to realize that the alleged violence of the Klan of the past was in fact lawful executions of murderers, rapists, and child molesters, they will understand that it has been an anti-Christian force in this nation that has tarnished the once immensely popular and beloved Ku Klux Klan. They won't care what the agenda driven entertainment media has to say about this truly Christian and family oriented movement. They will only stop to consider...NO ONE is speaking out on behalf of my white Christian heritage and family...NO ONE but the Klan!

Of course, religious folks will say that this is just "people" and has nothing whatsoever to do with religion.

Just as baseball players are just people who are into sports and it has nothing to do whatsoever with baseball.

There is science and there is bad science.

Most global warming scientists and others (think fat man gore) use a bit too much bad science.

I was kidding! I've been at this posting business too long to worry about a thread going off course. I do it all the time myself, so I can't complain. It happens when a group of friends get together, the conversation goes where it goes

I beg to differ.

I had a list of the most reputable science organisations/institutes, all of whom have investigated climate change and have come out and stated that it is real. The list included all of the major western nations, including the UK, France, Canada, Australia. The list is in a forum at another place, which I'm not inclined to visit at present or I would find it for you.

Suffice to say that your assertion that 'global warming scientists' use 'bad science' flies in the face of all rationality. In effect you are saying that the vast majority of scientists do not know what they are talking about.

I find that impossible to believe.
