What Did You Think of The Noughties?
It is nearly 2010, only a month and a bit to go. Was the start to the 21st Century all that it was cracked up to be for you? A decade ish from the Millennium, what is your assessment of where we have gotten to? In terms of politics, science, medicine, the net, boobies, whatever, looking back at your expectations, how does reality compare.
To be frank, I'm disappointed, but not surprised. As a species we are being dragged from the future by our inability to tackle some fundamental things I believe. I suspect our leaders don't have the vision, are not of the calibre required, they can't live up to our expectations, and with the net we are as a species taking tentative steps towards forging some sort of people power.
Where it will lead I don't know. It may just turn into a fascist majority lead cluster fuck, or something that affords the individual a real voice, I can't tell. It should be an interesting ride though.

On a personal level, this decade started out great! I met my wife. We got married, had 2 beautiful children and forged a nice life for ourselves.
At the beginning of this year, though, I lost my mom.
Let's just say that I will be glad when 2009 is forever gone.

This "people power" is also known as the Second Superpower.
I hope that humanity can get it's collective shit together and figure out how to live together in peace and prosper like we were meant to. We are capable of so much, yet we remain stagnant and primitive in comparison to our potential. I hope we fix that.

Same here except for the 2 kids. My wife being a student, it's not time yet.
I also got my Permanent Resident Status, my Master's Degree, got promoted vice-president of the small company I work in and just finished (this month) to pay back my student loan.
This decade has treated me very well so far. I started it in Sweden, and will end it in Canada.
As on the more global vision, the crisis has been tough in France for my friends and family. It's much worse than in Canada. If you are looking at being stocks or bonds, France is a good market to invest in. My financial advisor bought some for me and they are all going up. just a hint. The market was so low that it can only go back up. My small portfolio is at +19% this year so far. (started in March).
Professionally, I want to work very hard in December, clean off my plate and start with a clean sheet of to do list.
that's it for now

Summation though is this:
WE ARE FUCKED!
